Craig was a positive, caring, creative, honest, good listener, and the list could go on and on. Not sure really where to begin or what to say. I can't believe that 4 years ago today I was in my apt in Alaska getting ready, eating a honey bun, and waiting on my friend Dawn to come and pick me up so we could hang out. She arrived a little early which was not like her (she's usually right on time), and would wait for me in her car. She walked in and told me to please call my mom. My first thought was it's something with my grandfather. I must have had that look because she then said it's not your granddad. I called my mom to find out the Craig had been in a car accident. I don't really think through things so I asked my mom for the number, and I would call him later...ya'll were 4 hours ahead of me. She then proceeded to tell me that Craig has passed away in a tragic car accident. The next few hours were a blurr, and I cried, wept and was angry for the next little while. Why God? Why my best friend? Why a 24 year old?
So all this to say I still miss Craig, and memories come over me at the weirdest times, but it became even more real this past Thursday we lost a music student. She was only 21. Life is to short not to live it to the fullest.

I could sit here and list memories ALL night long, but will just list a few:
*singing the Get-A-Long-Gang theme song
*him getting mad at me one night, and ended up asking for his Bible I had borrowed...we ended up talking and working things out for like 3 hours
*going on a Ghost Tour
*spending all holidays together
*him fixing my hair one time, and it was MASSIVE
*watching the black Wizard of Oz (The Whiz)
*driving to his house one night to get a notebook he had left
*him making a cake and putting lard in it, and then wanting me to taste the nasty mess
*him sharing with me that his mom had cancer
* making me cut out stuff because his class was learning about the Holocaust
Like I said before this list is never ending. Thanks for being a friend during the times you were here on earth.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

So many things have been going on since the new year began. Thank you to all who prayed for my Aunt's surgery. She had/has tongue cancer, and this past Monday they removed a 1/4th of her tongue (took 20 something stitches), and then took out some nodes in her throat(9 staples). I thought about making New Year's Resolutions, but they are always the same thing, and I never seem to do them after like 3 or 4 months. I hope and pray you all had a wonderful Christmas, and a Happy New Year. I can't wait to see what God has in store for all of us in 2009.

Operation Christmas Child Warehouse

Look at all the setup that goes into this ordeal
<img style="cursor:pointer; I had the opportunity to go to the Operation Christmas Child Warehouse. It was neat to see how many things go on, and how many boxes they send out. I will post pictures in a bit. I went yesterday morning, and then wrote a little something about my experience, and I loved it so much that I went again last night. It's hard to describe this experience in writing, and I encourage everyone to participate. I was always the one that packed boxes in the past, but never actually seen or understood the entire process. Here is the thing I wrote:

‘Twas the week before Christmas
And all through the warehouse,
Operation Christmas Child boxes were being sent out.

Children, youth, and adults of all ages
Were packing boxes through eyes of a Savior.
Each tiny box wrapped, taped and handled with care
In the hopes that the kids in the Ukraine
Would understand and know someone cares.

Barbie dolls, race cars, puzzles, coloring books and some crayons too,
Trying to squish in the last item or two;
We certainly don’t want a child to be blue
If only they knew

We don’t realize how much we’ve been blessed
Until some of us are put to the test.
Day in and day out Operation Christmas Child workers are always at their best;
Some seem to never take a rest.

So let this be a lesson to all -
Shoe boxes no matter how big or small
Can make some sort of impact
If we just gather up goodies and have ourselves a ball

So think of all the children in our world near and far
Who can catch a glimpse of the Shining Star
Through something so little as an Operation Christmas Child box
So let’s gather our socks, and start a box for next year

I Surrender All

I know most of you have heard this song a zillion times, but it actually clicked this morning during church. Perry spoke on the "Christmas Story," and one of the verses in Luke 2 says "GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST..." this is what our purpose here on earth is to be about. Perry also talked about when Jesus was born the shepherds left their livelihood (which was their sheep.)What "sheep" do you need to leave behind? The song that he challenged us with is the one listed below. I pray that you read over the words, and let them actually soak in. We are to Surrender All, Everything to Him..NOT just the little things. If you would like to watch Perry's message it will be up sometime Tuesday at http://www.newspring.cc/. Hope this sermon rocks your world as much as it did mine. Are you surrendering ALL or just the pieces you are willing to give up?

All to Jesus I surrender;
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

* Refrain:
I surrender all,
I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power;
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Now I feel the sacred flame.
Oh, the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!

God Speaking

Have you ever heard a love song
That set your spirit free
Have you ever watched a sunrise
And felt you could not breathe
What if it's Him
What if it's God speaking
Have you ever cried a tear that
You could not explain
Have you ever met a stranger
That already knew your name
What if it's Him
What if it's God speaking

Who knows how He'll get a hold of us
Get our attention to prove He is enough
He'll do and He'll use
Whatever He wants to
To tell us I love you

Have you ever lost a loved one
Who you thought should still be here
Do you know what it feels like
To be tangled up in fear
What if He's somehow involved
What if He's speaking through it all

His ways are higher
His ways are better
Though sometimes strange
What could be stranger
Than God in a manger

God is speaking
I love you

I LOVE this entire song, and it always seems to speak to me, but the line or two that has stuck out to me this afternoon has been. "Have you ever lost a loved one. Who you thought should still be here." the reason these stick out are because today is my best friend, Craig Lucas', birthday. His birthday would have been today if he hadn't of passed away 4 years ago in January. Sometimes we don't understand, and there are many many times that I think he should still be here on this earth, but as the song reminds us.."His ways are higher..." Craig and I used to do EVERYTHING together. That's how closer our friendship was. I actually still keep up with his family, and going to have supper with them on Friday. We have many memories together, both happy and sad. So I just wanted to write this, and say Happy Birthday Craig..we think about you often, and you are certainly missed.

Thankful Heart

This past weekend I was working on an Operation Christmas Child Box (Jed get excited), and I got to thinking how much we really do take for granted. It reminded me of the Christmas I spent in China, and that was certainly an eye opener within itself...but probably by far one of the most memorable Christmases I've experienced thus far. I can almost taste the warm, moist turkey right from the oven after being carved. The tart cranberry sauce, the homemade gravy and dressing, amongst many other things that my family will have during this Thanksgiving season. I can't believe it's almost here, but first I will be going to the Trans Siberian Orchestra next Thursday night. Just thought I would blog today, and ask people what they are thankful for. So please respond and tell me a few things you are thankful for.

1. that we have freedom of speech
2. that the King is ENTRHALLED with MY beauty
3. that friends are God's greatest gifts...no matter how close or far away
4. That God doesn't make mistakes, but he certainly left room for lots of improvement
5. That I get to work with college students
6. That I have a roof over my head, food on my table, and a job that pays my bills

This list could continue for a very long time, but the other day I sat down and really thanked God for things I were grateful for..not just the mundane things, but the little things. I see leaves of bright, vast, beautiful beauty, and I'm reminded that God created things that we see on a daily basis.

PS. Jed and Kimmy if you are reading this I tried postingg a comment to your blogs, but it said my password was wrong...funny that's the same password I'm using to post this blog. I love this time of year when the leaves are changing and it's a little chilly so you can wear a coat. A few weekends ago my friend and I rode up to Hendersonville/Biltmore Estate to enjoy the fall.Then we ate dinner at Bay Breeze (an excellent seafood restaurant). This past weekend was busy to say the least as well. Leah and I went to the Romeo and Juliet play here at NGU...it was set in the 80's but still used Shakesperian language. It was rather interesting..not my favorite, but I thought the acters and actresses did a GREAT job. Then Saturday we came to NGU for the parade, and I was able to see Michelle for a few minutes. I miss that girl like crazy! Leah and I went to a tiny hole in the wall place called The Traveler in TR. The food was good, but the service was a little slow. Then we came back to watch some of the Homecoming Game. I was really surprised that Id didn't see more people I knew from years past. Then we headed to Motlow Creek Baptist Church for a benefit dinner for one of our NGU students who has cancer. They had speghetti and an auction. It was fun. I think this week will be a little more low key. I'm already caught up and ahead of things here at work. So should be interesting what I find to do.

Weekend Review

I meant to write this yesterday, but just got busy and forgot about it. I had a wonderful weekend...slightly busy, but good. I got off of work at 12:00 on Friday, and headed to my parents house. On the way there I saw probably about 20 cop cars every half mile along the interstate. Mind you it's pouring down rain, and they are all standing there in their trench rain coats, and large guns pointed towards the woods. Still don't have a clue what they were doing, but at least I didn't get shot. So I made it home safely, and my parents and I headed to Charleston for the night. We watched the team my brother-in-law coaches play football. They won 51-14. I think Ed was a little upset that it wasn't a shut-out, but hey they still won. We spent the night at their house, and they must keep the air on 50...it was freezing in there. Saturday I went to Rachel Bass (now Rhye's) wedding. It was such a worshipful ceremony. The cake was massive, and delicious. Then we came back home, and picked up my Aunt and niece, and went out to seafood with them. We listened to some college games, and even watched some of TV. Then Sunday my "aunt," mom, and I went to the Panthers vs. Falcons game. We got to ride in her nice convertible to the game, and she has tickets in the end zone. Panthers won 24 to 9. So all that brings me to yesterday. I had gotten up and was driving to work, and a bird flew into my window. The poor thing is now dead, and I felt horrible, but there was nothing I could do. Tomorrow is CHRISTMAS MUSIC LISTENING DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fall Friday

I know I know...you avid readers (all 4 of you) thought something was wrong because I haven't blogged in quite sometime. I lead a pretty boring life these days so not much info to update you on. This week was a CRAZY, but fun week. I would like to also say that the weather this week has been fantastic. Fall is certainly in the air, and I LOVE it! Tuesday night a bunch of us went out to eat at Applebee's for a birthday. I didn't know they had all you can eat chicken fingers. That blessed my socks off. Then last night I went to another person't house for a birthday get together. We had pizza and played Nertz (a fun card game). For those that are wondering my ankle is much better these days. I actually was able to go work out on it, and only one machine hurt. I'm going home this afternoon to get my eyes checked because I have a headache from staring at the computer ALL the time. Hopefully he can give me glasses or something to help the headaches go away. Well Christmas Music Listening day is just around the corner, and for those of you that don't like it...BAH HUMBUG to you!!

Update on me

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. My mom had her retirement party this past Saturday, and I think it went well. She especially enjoyed having two of her International Students that I found do a little video blurb for her. One used to sing ALL the time when he lived with us, and so he sang a verse of Amazing Grace in English/Korean. So gorgeous! They ended up moving Ed (brother-in-laws) game to Thursday night because they were scared of Hurricane Hannah. He ended up winning, but it wasn't a shutout. It was soooo good to have my brother and his wife home from Atlanta as well. We all went to church together on Sunday, and then Cracker Barrell. Still hobbling around, but now I have a boot that I got today so hopefully I can walk a little better, and not have my foot hurt. I've been able to put pressure on it so that's a good thing. pray for my roommate...she has strep throat. She scared me last night because she came home early from class, and was having trouble breathing. So her boyfriend took her to the ER. So pray that I don't get it, and that she gets better SOON. She plays soccer so she needs to be better. Hope everyone is having a GREAT week so far, and don't forget Christmas Music Listening Day is right around the corner. Tell me your favorite Christmas Song and why.

Toe Tappin Time

OK so there's really no toe tappin going on because it hurts to bad, but I at least wanted a catchy title. :)For those that read...the faithful 3 or 4. I decided I would update you on my foot. I got over my stubbornness and ended up going to the ER yesterday afternoon. I did indeed fracture my little pinky toe bone on my left foot. She said it would have been better to just crack it in half, and it bruised and swelled (not sure on the tense there) a little, but will do more of that underneath. She told me to be on crutches, but I told her not at NGU. So I just have to keep it wrapped, iced, and elevated. I mean really when will Satan stop with me, and move to the next person? My mom's retirement party is Saturday so please say an extra prayer that the weather will hold off.

Journal Entry

I feel like I'm about to write in my journal..which by the way I only keep one on Mission Trips. I can barely think of things to blog let alone journal everyday. This weekend in a nut shell. My parents and I went and watched Ed (my sister’s husband) coach his HS football team. They won in the last minute of the game…39-34. It was a back and forth game the whole time. So that’s always good. Then Saturday we ran lots of errands. We watched the Clemson game, and that was a total upset to say the least. I went and got my toes done, and I asked for a Clemson Tiger Paw to be put on them. I forgot that they usually don't speak very good English..so this lady that was waiting to get her toes done as well went through Wal-Mart and got a hat so they could look at the design. Needless to say I have a Tiger Paw..heheh. Speaking of Clemson I really want them to do better...I mean the first game of the season, and you barely showed up. Let's get it together boys! Sometime Saturday night the power went out so we didn’t hear our alarms for Sunday morning. Then Monday I just chilled, and then Tuesday I had an annual cleaning at the dentist, and then came back to work. Now that you have my daily journal entries  Say an extra prayer this weekend..we are supposed to have my mom’s retirement party on Saturday, but that is also the time the Hurricane Hannah is supposed to grace us with her presence. If you think about it tonight my roommate, Mollie, has a soccer game tonight. So just pray for safety and a good game.

I almost forgot, and this is why I decided to blog today. I got out of my car yesterday and was literally WALKING..not running, skipping, jumping, etc. to go to Curves, and some how I managed to turn my ankle. It kind of feels like the time I broke my pinky toe bone White Water Rafting, and the girl in front of me told me if I yelled again she was literally going to throw me out of the boat. So I hit my ankle on some rocks, but you better believe I kept quiet. Anyways I went ahead and worked out, and it's hurting bad, but I'm stubborn and seen enough doctors this summer so not going to get it seen about right now unless it gets worse. It's nicely bruised, and couldn't get comfy last night to try and sleep. I have it wrapped today, but don't you worry still going to try and work out today...I know call me STUPID!!

What did all my faithful readers do this Labor Day Weekend?

Hear me Roar

Well I watched the USC vs. NC State game, and if I do say so myself that was a pretty pathetic game. I mean USC didn't even score until the 3rd quarter. I know you won, but really...you played a team that's barely even a football team. Anyways, I'm waiting to watch the Clemson Tigers play tomorrow, and yes we may lose, but that's because Alabama actually has a decent football team. So sorry USC, but do better!
Ok enough of that for the morning. I can't believe it's already Labor Day weekend. I'm heading to Fort Mill for the weekend to meet my parnets, and then tonight we are heading to Moncks Corner to watch the Berkley Stags play their first football game. (My Brother-in-law) is the Defensive Coach there). Hopefully they have a pretty good team this year. Then I think Saturday I running errands, getting my oil changes, and maybe doing a little shopping. Sunday is church, and then Monday if the weather is nice I plan on hanging out at the neighborhood pool, then Tuesday dentist appointment and back to work I got. I also can't believe my mom's big retirement party is next weekend. It should be fun, and I think there are about 200 plus people coming to it. Happy Labor Day weekend!!

Thursday Typings

I know that I haven't posted in awhile, but no one reads this anymore. I think it was fun for the first week, and then people lost interest. I wanted to write today because it's been monsoon season up here at NGU, but today I can look out my window at work, and enjoy God's Beauty. Just from my window alone I can see the mountains, trees, grass, flowers, etc. The sun is shining, and it'a a beautiful day. Just wanted to say thank you for the rain. So often we complain, but we needed it bad. Hope that all is going well in blog land. If you haven't seen America's Got Talent you should watch it next Tuesday. Please say a prayer for my back. It hurts, but not all the time. So not really sure what is wrong with it. My mom thinks maybe I have been working out to much. So I'm not going to Curves tomorrow or Saturday so we will see if that makes it feel any better. I burned 435 calories yesterday, and I was so proud of myself.

Another Semester??

There's been a lot going on. Such as school starting, and trying to get back in the Swing of things, but I figured people don't read this anyways so what's the point of trying to blog every single night. So I have decided that I'm only going to blog when I want or feel the need to. If you think about it one of our students passed away this week after a bout with cancer. He was a player on the basketball team so just keep them and your families in your prayers. I can't believe that school has started back already. The men are working hard to try and get the roof back on, but for the time being I have to go up the Fire Escape outside of Neves to get inside...kind of scary because it wobbles, and it's the only way in and out. I can't believe that my mom's retirement party is in like 2 weeks. Crazy stuff. Until next time...stay out of trouble :)There is like one month and a few days until Christmas music listening day!!!!!

Awesome Weekend

Never fear fellow bloggers..I'm back in the swing of things. The reason I didn't blog this weekend is because I went to visit my best friend and her husband in Georgia. I hadn't seen them since the wedding back in March. Friday night we played Rock Band, and I pretty much stink at that game, but it was still fun none the less. We ordered pizza, and Jonathan and I both like stuffed crust. Saturday Margaret-Ann and I chilled in our pajama's until like 1:00 just talking and stuff. Then we ran a few errands, and met some other friends for Japanese. We then came back to their house and played Cranium and Apples to Apples. The girls won at both games by the way. Then we stayed up and watched Michael Phelps win his 8th Olympic Medal. That guy is AMAZING! Today we went to church, and then out to Shane's BBQ. I had never eaten at one until today, but I won't complain. We then went to Lowe's because they are fixing little things in their house. Tonight I ate at Jonathan's parent's house because she insisted that I stay and eat. So now I'm watching more Olympics, and I'm about to head to bed. Upperclassmen move in tomorrow.

10 Things Thursday

Tomorrow is Freshman move in day! I think I typed from the time I got there until like 15 minutes before it was time for me to leave. Talk about a headache...I felt like I was going to throw up afterwards, but I made it to Curves to work-out. I felt like I was going to pass out. We finally got the Curves Smart Machines, and I'm ready to learn how to use it. My appointment isn't until August 27th though. From what I have seen and heard it's going to be tougher. It lets you know if you are working to your full potential or not. Freshman move in on Friday...where did the summer go? Oh I remember I was sick for most of it. Katie and Jody cooked dinner for all of us again. I could get used to coming home every night, and supper already on the table. :)

Tuesday

Sorry to all the many readers (ha) for not blogging yesterday, but something was wrong with our Internet, and it wouldn't let me on last night. Yesterday I was in White Hall, and I just tried to organize some stuff, and get it ready for school to start. I'm not sure when the regular secretary is coming back. Then I got back, and Katie and Jody (Mollie's sisters) had fixed supper for us. Mollie had class, but Seth joined us. Then Katie, Jody, and I went to the Dillard House for ice cream. I have got to start going to bed at a decent hour instead of staying up and watching the Olympics.

Merry Monday

All the athletes came back to NGU today, and Band Camp started so it was pretty hectic around there. I think they have been open for 5 weeks, but with all my sickness and stuff going on then this was my first Sunday. I was a little nervous because I'm not very good with directions, but I made it there and back safely. Perry is doing a series called "You Asked For It," and today he was talking about if we should be a part of culture of not. You should watch it online to see what his answer was. I like the setup there, but it's going to take a little getting used to because the music is live, and then you watch the sermon on the screen. I went to the pool for a little while, but I personally didn't want to hear about other people's sex lives or their vulgar mouths. So we left, and been watching the Olympics and just resting.

Superb Saturday

I know I know...I'm such a slacker, and didn't post again last night. I got up yesterday and went to Curves, came back and showered, and then went and met my dad, grandmother, and cousin. We went to a place in Spartanburg called Wade's. It was like a meat and three that's been around forever. Then I got back around 4:00, and Mollie, Katie, Josh, Jody, and myself went to Downtown Greenville. We walked around, and then ate at sticky Fingers and then got Marble Slab. I'm finishing watching the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics, and I can't help but think of the song I used to sing when I was a child...."Red, and Yellow, Black, and White...they are precious in His sight...Jesus loves the little children of the world." I know they aren't children technically, but just to think that He created ALL of them in His image amazes me. I look forward to watching the rest of the Olympics. I thought it was precious when China came out, and the little boy that survived the earthquake walked with them. I also look forward to watching when a country wins a medal, and how the will react to their countries national anthem. I'm tried, and I'm heading to bed.

Toned down Thursday

Today I made a few snowflakes on the website that I listed yesterday. They are expecting another bad storm tonight so please pray that NGU doesn't get hit again. I took a nap, and it was GREAT! I'm watching Larry King Live with Steven Curtis Chapman. I still can't imagine what they are going through, and then I'm going to watch some of America's Got Talent. I really haven't watched that much TV this week, and I'm proud of myself. Tomorrow I'm meeting with my old roommate for lunch, and then my old co-worker, Michelle. I miss that girl a TON!!! She was also my Curves buddy. The Olympics start tomorrow, and I'm excited. Today is my day to switch between Fine Arts and Humanities and Christian Studies. So I spent most of the morning in Fine Arts typing once again, and trying to organize a few things. Then went to White Hall for the rest of the afternoon. I did catch up on some more letters, and also played a couple of games of Mexican Train on the computer..lost most all the rounds. Then I headed to Curves, and I'm glad that they are not charging me for a month since I had all that medical stuff going on. So that was certainly a blessing. Then I came home, and made chicken lasagna, and Leah came over. I do have to say that it turned out pretty yummy.

http://www.popularfront.com/snowdays/ You should all visit this site, it will make you feel cooler at least. I caught up once again on some letter writing. I expect some back in return. They are still working on the Adm building, and Neves. I hope they hurry and finish because we are expecting more rain on Thursday. This evening I was able to meet Katie, her son, (Micahah). I can't believe he will be one next Thursday. Seems like he was just born. and Mrs. Garrett at Ruby Tuesday's. It was simply a good time to catch up. Katie and I figured it out, and the last time we got together was 3 months ago. Not typing a lot this evening because I'm about to go watch the Mole, and also because my fingers hurt from typing. I'm pretty sure that's ALL I did today from the time i got to work till the time I left. I only got on Facebook once, and if you know me that's rare. Mollie and I realized tonight at supper that we had free tickets to the Greenville Drive Game last night, but totally forgot and missed it. I think I'm seriously addicted to eating sunflower seeds. I can't seem to get enough of the saltiness. Today was my first day back at Curves, and I was actually excited to go and work out. Have to lose some pounds that the medicine made me gain.

Sleepy Sunday

This morning we were dog tired so slept in, and then my mom worked on typing up some papers once again from the 70's the Dr. Griffin needs. Finally I was able to head to the pool. I haven't been to the pool in like a month. So I was glad I was able to go. I ran in and took a shower, and then ate a yummy bacon sandwich my dad had made. Then I got on the road around 4:30. I got home, and I just felt like some things in my room were a mess so I straightened them up, and unpacked everything. I'm sitting here trying to find something decent to watch on television. I can't believe that the weekend is already over.

Strange Saturday

Sorry I didn't post last night. I was still feeling a little under the weather after having my stint taken out, but I did pass a medium size stone. So that's a good thing. My dad's uncle passed away and so we headed to Virginia...it was about a 4 hour trip there and back. I had a headache off and on all day yesterday, and I missed my friend Kimmy's going away/birthday party. I'm so sorry. So there is the reason I didn't post yesterday. I came home, and went straight to bed.

Stint Free

The stint is out!!! I still have 3 minor stones in my left kidney, but the lithotripsy got the one that was bothering me, and some of the one closest to it. There is still another one, and I might have that one lithotripsied sometime in November. Now I just get to wait and see what was causing all of these. Hopefully it will be something simple. Thanks for all the prayers and concerns. What a relief that was, and I actually feel better now that it's out. The Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist said that my "jaw" stone looked good as well, and to drink lemonade. I'm not a big fan, but if it will help my stones then I certainly will. We went and ate some good seafood tonight. I feel like all I ever do is blog about eating. :) Tonight is going to be a short blog because my dad's uncle passed away in Virginia, and we are heading to the funeral tomorrow at 5am...so need some beauty sleep...in more ways than one.

Thankful Thursday

I decided to blog about things I'm thankful for.

1. Thank you Jesus for being all knowing, and understanding. I pray that you would just speak, and I would shut-up and listen to YOU!

Overall today was a good day. It's my day to be in both places. So from 8:30-12:00 I was in the Fine Arts Department, and then from 12:00-4:30 I was in the Christian Studies and Humanities Department. It's very quiet up there now that Summer School is over, and Centrifuge is done.

Tough Tuesday

I'm actually blogging on the correct day. Now there's a concept. I was in a little bit of pain this morning, but it seemed to subside as the day wore on. Please pray for NGU again...we got hit last night by another storm, and it flooded the admin building which already had the roof knocked off of it in the last storm.

I guess just like the old saying goes..."when it rains it pours." My dad's uncle passed away this morning...I don't really know him. One of the guys I was in youth group with lost his dad this morning to a long battle with cancer. He already lost his mom previously to cancer. Our neighbor across the street at our old house had to have part of his colon removed because it wasn't functioning properly. A girl at our church who is my age had a kidney transplant, but the kidney didn't take.

I have tons of thoughts running through my mind at this point, but they just don't seem to come out in writing. Please lift up these people in prayer, and be thankful for what God has blessed you with today. We often take things for granted such as health, life, etc.

Missed Monday

I'm getting bad about writing the day after something happens, but I guess this way I can at least remember what I did the day before. Anyways, the reason I didn't write yesterday was because I was tired of looking at a computer screen ALL day. I was literally typing up stuff from the 70's that were written on a typewriter. Mollie and I had a chance to hang out last night, and that was fun. This week at NGU is work week, and I'm actually missing helping out...painting, cleaning, etc. I go back to the urologist as well as the Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist on Friday. So please say an extra prayer about that.

Soulful Sunday

This morning we got up and got ready to head to church. Cindy goes to a very traditional church, but we enjoyed it. The pastor talked about "How to Get Rid of Your Old Man..." I know what you are thinking, but he was talking about getting rid of our sinful nature which we all have. It was a really good sermon. We then came home, and Cindy's dad had made a delicious roast, potatoes, carrots, and string beans for lunch. I would have to say it was very yummy! Leah and I got on the road around 3:00, and now I'm working on drinking lots of liquids to try and pass these STUPID stones. Might post again later tonight.

Sister Saturday

Ok I wasn't exactly with my sister, but I consider these girls as close as sisters. Leah and I slept in while Cindy went to Wal-Mart with her mom to pick up school supplies. Her mom does this every year...she collects school supplies to give to children that maybe can't afford things for the upcoming school year. We then went to Camden House of Pizza (CHOPS, and Cindy and I split a Stromboli, and Leah had something with noodles. Then Cindy gave us a tour of her town. After all that we came home and played more games...imagine that. For dinner we went to a little village area and ate at a place called Red Bowl..it was Asian food. The funny thing is we all had leftovers, but somehow we managed to find room for Marble Slab. I didn't feel the best, and it looked a bit stormy. There was a wonderful guy out in the middle of the village singing...we could have done without "singing." We stayed up playing games and talking until about 12:00. We always have a fun time together.

Fabulous Friday

I know these are a couple days late, but I didn't check E-mail except once during the weekend, and that was for like 5 minutes. Friday was my day to work at NGU, but it was only until 12:00. So really wasn't bad at all. I stopped by Chick-Fil-A, and they were back up and running since there remodeling. Leah picked me up around 1:15 and we headed to Cindy's house. I wasn't feeling the best. It was nice to finally meet her parents. Her dad made us hamburgers, and then Susan (a former NGUer as well) came over, and we played Nertz, Farckle, Dutch Blitz, and Ubongo...of course I didn't win any games except Ubongo, but still had fun. I think we finally got in the bed around 12 something.

Tired Thursday

Sorry I didn't post last night. I came home around 6:00, and literally crashed. I didn't even realize I was that tired, but I guess I was. We are getting the Smart Machines at Curves, and I very excited. Each person will have their own little card specifically for them. So I went by there yesterday to sign up even though I can't work out agian until August 1st, and that makes me sad. Oh well it will be here before you know it. I went to the Joy of Toyko for dinner, and it was pretty reasonable and yummy food. Mollie is in class until 9:00, and Jody went to visit the grandmothers. So it was just me at the house. Tomorrow I'm heading to Cindy's house with Leah, and I'm excited. Dutch Blitz here I come!! If you've never played that card game you seriously should. It's tons of fun. I have to work today just until 12:00 though. It's usually pretty quiet.

Weird Wednesday

I tried taking it easy today, but I have been in some pain. Today I went back to NGU, and I didn't realize all the damage that had been done. Here are some of the pictures that have been taken on the damage. I can't take credit for taking them. Most of the damage was done on the roof of the Administration building and Neves. There are 900 Centrifuge Campers there this week as well. So it's certainly a blessing that no one was hurt.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SIf4hbLAj5I/AAAAAAAAAD8/t4wfiePNz-c/s320/Storm+1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226419145700052882" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SIf494EMWCI/AAAAAAAAAEE/dBJKOgSenZw/s320/Storm+2.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226419634492430370" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SIf5TZDPyAI/AAAAAAAAAEM/DO2J6v1Gq2k/s320/Storm+3.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226420004124084226" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SIf5qE-Dg_I/AAAAAAAAAEU/v1-Qtdx2LKw/s320/Storm+4.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226420393870590962" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SIf6QPDnPpI/AAAAAAAAAEc/cYrMI6JtChA/s320/Storm+5.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226421049413287570" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SIf64e3vLAI/AAAAAAAAAEk/EFUPzU_A8tQ/s320/Storm+6.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226421740853210114" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SIf7k4pqGMI/AAAAAAAAAEs/e3YyEps2zK4/s320/Storm+7.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226422503687723202" />

Traveling Tuesday

I'm feeling so so today. Hopefully I will continue to progress, and pass those stones. I go back to the urologist on August 1st. so say a prayer that everything goes well, and I will pass these stones! I slept in this morning, and then worked on getting my dad's computer on wireless...so I had to speak with someone that barely speaks English once again. We got it working, but his computer is so old that it can't be password protected so we took it off. Then my mom and I went and got our toes done, and I headed back to Greenville. Hopefully I can stay put for a few weeks. Not sure what I will do at work tomorrow since NGU had damage from some strong winds that ripped through there last night. I'm certainly taking a book to read in case Internet or phones aren't working.

Laser Tag

Thanks for all the prayers this morning.I felt like I should have been playing laser tag, but it really wasn't as bad as I made it out to be. The lithotripsy went rather well, and the doctor certainly said it was a big one. so now I just have to pass the crushed up pieces, and hope that they got the majority of it when I go back August 1st. He said that sometimes they are to big, and they might have to do it again. So please pray that they crushed it sufficiently, and this will be the last of it. I had to be there this morning at 7:15, and didn't get home till about 1:00. I came home and literally slept until 4:00. My mom had cooked a nice dinner, and thankfully I haven't been nauseated. Today was a good day. My family and I went to church, and then went to Cracker Barrell...I LOVE that place! Then we ran a few errands, and that just drained me. My mom got a new computer, and we got a wireless router. I must have spent several hours hooking it up to find out that it was a bad router. Needless to say I was not happy. Well I'm done eating and drinking for the night. I can't have anything after midnight. If you think about it please say an extra little prayer for me in the morning at 9:30..that's when I have my lithotripsy done, and I'm a little nervous. I will try and update tomorrow, but from what I understand I'm going to be totally out of it.

Super Saturday

This morning I woke up and had breakfast with Jody and Mollie before they headed out for the day. Then I kind of just chilled for a little while longer. Got up and got ready, and then headed home for the weekend. That way I can be here for my lithotripsy on Monday. My mom is now addicted to Facebook. :) So been trying to teach her how to do that. We met up with my grandmother, aunt, and Amanda for dinner. Not much to blog about these past couple of days. I will try and update about my kidney stone stuff on Monday, but I will probably be out of it.

Fun Friday

As I mentioned in the last post I was able to sleep in today until 11:30. So that was nice. I feel so bad because Jody is here, and I really haven't entertained her...kind of been a hermit since I haven't felt well. I was able to see Cindy and Leah this afternoon for only a few minutes so that was nice. It's Cindy's birthday today, and I hope she had a GREAT one! I was going to stop at the Chick-Fil-A and get a milkshake, but they are close for remodeling. I hope they hurry and get finished with that because I love to eat at that place!! So I came on home, and Mollie and Jody went to the pool. I'm not allowed to go because of the medicine I'm on which really stinks, but that means no more rashes so I will stay away from the pool for the meantime. Mollie cooked some salmon, and Jody cooked some broccoli, and I made baked potatoes. My mom got Facebook....what?? You go mom now you are with the times, and I hope it doesn't become to addicting. I'm heading home tomorrow in order to have lithotripsy on Monday for my kidney stone.
Here are some pictures from my mom's retirement party!

This is Ed (my sister's husband), Carla (my sister), Dena (the retiree), Dale (my dad)
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SIFYxF2kkgI/AAAAAAAAADk/LqNIVf8-epc/s320/Dena%27s+Retirement+Luncheon+7-16-08+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224554643134386690" />

This is Rodney Norvell (BCM Director at Furman and Greenville Tech), Jane Poster (she retired last year as the BCM Director at Columbia College), and Ken Owens (he is in charge of BCM Directors all over SC)

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SIFZU5XC1LI/AAAAAAAAADs/LNXj7swWe_s/s320/Dena%27s+Retirement+Luncheon+7-16-08+005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224555258256217266" />

This is Cora (Administrative Assistant to Ken Owens...she also planned and made sure this entire luncheon was carried out)

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SIFaBqCl-6I/AAAAAAAAAD0/-vn4V6HtPrw/s320/Dena%27s+Retirement+Luncheon+7-16-08+006.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224556027238022050" />

Thursday Times

Yesterday was Pre-Registration at North Greenville, and so that made kind of a crazy day. It's hard to believe that she has been involved in students lives for 39 years. WOW! She was allowed to invite 10 special people, and then people from the convention joined us as well. It was certainly a good time had by all. Many words of encouragement and servant-hood were spoken about her today. She certainly is one of those ladies that always has a smile on her face, looks for the good in others, and just simply encourage people. I know I'm a bit partial...I mean she is my mom. She will certainly be missed, but someone said it well this afternoon when they said that she literally has created a legacy. I can't begin to imagine how many students she has impacted. Several people spoke, and one of those being Scott Smith who is like my second dad. He phrased it well when he quoted the verse that says..."Well done my good and faithful servant." I know that this chapter in my mom's life has come to a close, and she will simply have to turn the page, and see what God has in store for her next. I think it's exciting and scary to think about, but my all time favorite verse...Jer. 29:11 will see her through. I just hope and pray that one day I can be half the woman that my mom has been and shown me through the years. Happy Retirement mom, and don't party to hard :)

Hopefully I can get some pictures of the luncheon on here soon.

Totally Tuesday

Today I was able to go back to work, and just take it easy. I never thought I would be happy to be back at work, but after everything that's been going on it felt nice. I just made some copies, talked with Ginger, made some phone calls. Nothing to major. I felt as if all I did was drink and use the bathroom. I came home, and picked up Jody...Mollie's sister who is staying with us until school starts, and we went to Ingles to get some grocery items, and then came home made baked potatoes, and she made cookies. They were delicious. I'm heading to bed a bit early tonight so I can be well rested for my mom's retirement party tomorrow. :)

My good friend Jed reminded me that there are only like 162 days until Christmas...that means Christmas Music Listening Day is just around the corner!!!

Manic Monday

Today I slept in once again, but when I say slept in I don't mean late because my body just won't let me these days. So I woke up about 9:00 and took my medicine, and ate some leftover cake. Then I just played on the computer until time for my doctor's appointment at 1:00. He did another X-ray, and this time the picture was much more clearer, but he scheduled me for a lithotripsy to be done Monday morning at 9:30. From what I understand I will be heavily sedated, but will be conscience in order for them to give me directions on exactly what to do. They will literally use a laser to crush the 1 inch stone, and it will take about 45 minutes to an hour. I have to be at the hospital at 7:00am that morning. So if you are reading this, and think about it please say an extra little prayer for me. I headed back to Greenville this evening, and was able to see my roommate who I haven't seen in like 2 weeks, and also meet her sister Jody that will be attending North Greenville in the Fall. I came back here after lunch, and started watching some movies, but ended up falling asleep. So here I am blogging. Is anyone even still reading these or I'm probably just typing and wasting time? I was supposed to head back to work on Monday, but that isn't happening. So just pray that everyone involved will be totally understanding.

Kidney Stone Woahs

Well I finally got settled, and was able to get a little sleep. We were trying to get my comfy so I wouldn't have to go to the ER because all they would do is give me some pain medicine and tell me to go see a urologist. So I made it through the night..thank you Jesus! Now when a kidney stone hits...you certainly know it. If you have ever had a kidney stone you know exactly the kind of pain and agony I'm talking about! NOT FUN TIMES TO SAY THE LEAST! I was literally climbing the walls because I was in so much pain. They think mine are hereditary, and hopefully will find out the cause of them. Anyways I made it to the doctor at 2:30, and he did several X-rays, and then sent me to the Outpatient Center to have a stint put in. The doctor thinks this one is about an inch so probably to big to pass. We will hopefully be able to determine what needs to be done on Monday at 1:00pm So needless to say I'm just taking it easy. What a way to spend a vacation...jaw stone, HORRIBLE allergic reaction to one of the medicines, and now a kidney stone...grrrr. If you think about it please say an extra prayer for me.

Turtle Tracking

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SHlk1m7wecI/AAAAAAAAADc/SAKsgzsJu4E/s320/Sunrise+1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5222316115059833282" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SHlkyEpllCI/AAAAAAAAADU/11l-IccrXD8/s320/Sunrise.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5222316054317208610" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SHlkuk8J0UI/AAAAAAAAADM/fdunbfW_wP4/s320/moving+turtles.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5222315994265538882" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SHlkq4bEagI/AAAAAAAAADE/tV5kC9T4Ol0/s320/turtle+nest.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5222315930776005122" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SHlklzEzL2I/AAAAAAAAAC8/OsARxdaohkA/s320/turtle+tracks.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5222315843441078114" />
I know it's Saturday, and I'm posting for Thursday. I will get to that in a moment. We got up around 6:30 this morning to go walk the beach and look for shells. We probably walked 5 or 6 miles easily. We also saw were turtles had come to shore during the course of the night, and laid their eggs. We actually stopped and took some pictures because one nest had to be moved because she laid them to close to the water. I didn't know that they only lay every 25 years, and once the babies hatch they make their way towards the water. We went to a few little shops on the island, and then came back and we all crashed. When I woke up I was having a MAJOR kidney stone attack. So my mom and I quickly got on the road back to Fort Mill. I felt bad because I felt as if I ruined everyone's vacation, and then Mrs. Scottie and Carla had planned a huge dinner, but we weren't able to enjoy it.

Happy Birthday Mom

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SHV0566SgcI/AAAAAAAAAC0/7rl7cAn7Pgo/s320/ATT674602.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221207881421062594" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SHV0mELThEI/AAAAAAAAACs/G_I1YjKEEM0/s320/edisto+010.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221207540310967362" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SHV0gUAyS8I/AAAAAAAAACk/lZsquAsGW6s/s320/edisto+009.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221207441482599362" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SHV0aEhw8TI/AAAAAAAAACc/Sv4pfM_Sggk/s320/edisto+2.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221207334246740274" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_S07lX3PtFSQ/SHV0KFg0xDI/AAAAAAAAACU/UZvoxLPaOVw/s320/edisto+1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221207059633325106" />

Today was a good day. I was able to sleep in till 9:30, and then I sat in the hammock most of the day and read. I'm trying to figure out how I can have a hammock on my porch at the apartment in Greer...still thinking on that one. My sister and her mother-in-law went and looked at condos, and mom laid out. Today it my mom's 61st birthday. She is getting younger every single day. :) When Mrs. Scottie and Carla got back we went and sat out by the beach for a bit. The breeze felt wonderful down there. Then we came back and showered, and my sister and I took the ladies out to eat at The Plantation Grill. I got fried shrimp and fries. Then we rode around Edisto for a little while, and looked at some houses. Below are some pictures that we took. Hopefully I can post more later. My sister, Mrs. Scottie and I worked on making "boob" glasses. They are actually fun to make, and sell in the store for like $35.00 a piece.

Edisto here we come

Sorry still nothing really exciting or thought provoking to post about. Tried sleeping in this morning, but this morning as well as yesterday the yard men were out pressure washing yesterday and today hammering and banging all sorts of stuff around. I mean do you really have to start at 8:30 am on my vacation time? I guess so. So obviously there was NO sleeping in as hard as I can sleep, and I certainly tried to block it out. So got up and went to Curves again, and broke out once again. Then came home and finished packing. My mom and I started to Edisto about 3:00pm. It's pretty down here, but the drive took us a bit. We stopped at Dillard's in Columbia so that we could look for some blue/yellow shirts for Berkley Football..that's where my brother-in-law coaches. We ended up finding some...so everyone will look alike come game time. Then we headed on down here. I will try and take a picture of 3 big sights in Edisto. Trailer on stilts, mattress in a tree on a rope (like a hammock), and a tree that they decorate in the middle of the Marsh. All three of these are quite a site to behold. It was good to see my sister after her trip to Spain. We sat out on the porch and talked and enjoyed pictures, and now I'm just checking my E-mail, and fixing to hit the sack until tomorrow. Hope everyone rests well!

Monday, Monday

Today was a pretty uneventful day once again. I was actually able to sleep in till about 11:30 so that was exceptionally nice. Then I went up and was able to go to Curves. I think I got a little to hot because I broke out again when I got home. My mom cooked us some dinner, and then my dad and I watched some TV together. I didn't have to put on any lotion or take any medicine to sleep last night so that's a HUGE improvement. Is anyone still even reading these? My mom and I have decided to head to Edisto tomorrow instead of Wednesday because that way we won't waste a whole day driving. This morning I woke up to my dad taking our dog out, and him rushing back inside to hand her over to my mom. He was going to help a man that had fallen down in the parking lot, and they think he had a heart attack. My dad is going to call over there tomorrow and check in on him. So then I got up and got ready for church. They were showing a few slides from Brazil where my parents went a few weeks ago to help build a house for a seminary professor and also work in the orphanages. Then my dad had gotten a gift card to Cracker Barrel so we went and made good use of it. I think I have mentioned before that I could eat my weight in their biscuits. YUM! We then headed to the Charlotte Airport to pick up Kent and Leah from their flight back from Texas. They landed, but ended up having to wait on their luggage for a few minutes. So we got them straight, and back on the road towards Greenville. Then we just came home, and I think all napped and watched bits and pieces of the Braves Game. My sister and brother-in-law were actually there, but had to catch a flight back to Charleston so they weren't able to stay for all 17 innings. That was one long, but good game! Go Braves! I'm writing this post a little earlier than usual because I'm plum tuckered out, and thinking about heading to bed here shortly, but not before I have my popcorn. :)

Home again, Home again

This is going to be a very short post, but my mom and I just made it home safely from the beach. We are planning on resting and washing clothes, and then heading out to Edisto on Wednesday to be with my sister, and her mother-in-law. I laid in the hammock for a bit again this morning, and just feeling the crisp, cool air made it so relaxing. Then we went two two shoe stores, and the Tanger Outlets. Today at the pool I saw an odd sight. There was this guy, probably around my age that came to the pool in his blue swim trunks, flip flops, and literally a white linen dinner jacket. I kept waiting for the bride to appear. I closely watched him, and he took off his jacket, went for a swim, and then asked some random girl if he could borrow her suntan oil, and proceeded to sun bathe. It was quite weird to say the least, and I tried to get a picture for my blog, but no such luck. There is NO telling who or what you will see at the beach. Signing off for tonight, because I need to be at church in the morning since my parents are sharing about their trip to Brazil a few weeks ago.

Happy 4th of July

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy 4th, and also Freedom in Christ. This is just a very minor thank you, but thank you to the men and women that serve our country day in and day out. Also I would like to thank my God who gives me grace, and freedom in Him, and only through Him can I be saved.
This morning we got up and went to breakfast, and I had pineapple, grapes, strawberries, biscuits, grits, bacon, and potatoes. It was delicious. It's called the Sea Captain's House, and it has an ocean view. Then we went to Garden City which was about a 45 minute drive from breakfast. We went looking for a specific chair for my "Aunt Bev," but no such luck. Then we went to a place called Painter's Ice Cream, and I got chocolate chip cookie dough. It was yummy as well. My mom enjoyed it because they had orange pineapple. Then we went to Belk's and stayed 3 hours there as well. Now remember last night we went to Dillard's and stayed there just as long. How you can only go to 2 stores and stay 6 hours. Then we went to the Five Guys, and I got a hamburger and some fries. Do you see a pattern here....all I feel like I have done is eat, eat, and eat some more. We came back to the condo, and watched some fireworks from the balcony. I was going to try and get some pictures, but couldn't get any good shots. Tomorrow mom and I are headed back to Fort Mill, and then to Edisto some time next week. Please say an extra prayer because tonight my sister and brother-in-law are flying back in from Spain. Again Happy 4th of July, and until tomorrow celebrate your FREEDOM!!!

Terrific Thursday

Today I was up and awake about 7:00....highly unusual for me especially on vacation. I then got dressed and headed to the nice hammock that was in the shade. I could hear the cry of babies, the crash of the waves, and feel the cool and crisp ocean air, but I got no sun! I literally laid in that hammock from 10:00am until about 3:30. I started reading Chicken Soup for the Ocean Lover's Soul, and ate some sunflower seeds. My mom was even nice enough to bring me some lunch. I watched Amanda and her mom swim for a little while, and then I was able to take a short, but well needed nap. We all came back upstairs and showered, and then went to Longhorn's to eat dinner. My mom and I shared some ribs, steak and baked potato. I think that was one of the juiciest must tender steak I had eaten in a LONG time. Then we went to the local mall, and spent 3 hours in Dillard's department store. Two of the ladies we are with are in wheelchairs so it was quite an ordeal, but fun nevertheless. Today was an overall good day, and we are going to this country cookin place in the morning for breakfast. Hope you have a GREAT 4th of July, and I will try and post some pictures tomorrow.

Weird Wednesday

Today I had planned on going to Curves again, but I was feeling a bit dizzy and like I needed to pass out so ended up not going. My mom and I got a bit of a late start, and headed towards the beach. We ended up stopping at Cracker Barrell. I could eat their biscuits ALL day...they are delicious. Then we worked our way down to Tanger Outlets, and I bought a few things there. They were having some really good deals. We finally all made it to the beach, and are staying at my "Aunt Bev's" condo. There are 7 us staying down here. So it could possibly be a condo full. It's my "Aunt Bev," her mom, my mom, me, "Aunt Anne," her daughter, Amanda, and their mom, "Mimi." Tonight we went to K&W Cafeteria, and I got a plate of vegetables. Then we went to Bi-Lo to get some snacks and lunch stuff for the rest of the week. Hopefully this will be another fun and relaxing week.

Timeless Tuesday

Today I made it to Curves once again, and was able to go around on the circuit twice so that was a blessing. At this Curves they actually have an actual machine you stretch on instead of using the floor. That was really nice, and I think I'm going to try talking the one back in Greenville into getting one. :) Ya'll are probably tired of hearing about this stupid allergic reaction, but it seems to be getting somewhat better. The only thing is that it might take 2-3 weeks to completely clear up. So no sun on this vacation for me. My mom and I asked some of the locals where we should go for lunch this afternoon, and we ended up at a place called Gilligan's by the water. The view was pretty good, and the food wasn't so bad just a little over priced for the little that we got. My mom and I split some potato skins, and then I got popcorn shrimp, fried okra, and corn on the cob. That was some good eatin. Then we came back and headed to the pool for a little while. It's nice to get in, but would love to have some sun with it. Met a lady out at the pool who was from Germany, and she had a gorgeous accent. So that was kind of cool. Then I had a random phone call from a former NGC(U)er, John Polk. It was nice to chat with him on the phone for a brief minute or two. He does Carriage Rides in Downtown Charleston, and it would have been neat to see him. Haven't talked or kept up with him for 2 years. Anyways my day was pretty un-adventuresome to say the least. Please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers...this medicine I'm on makes me eat EVERYTHING, and I'm sure that I have gained 20 pounds just being on it since Thursday. Please let me know if you are reading this. I think people have forgotten about me in just a short week. I will try to post more throughout the week, but access to Internet may be few and far between.

Can you believe it's already July? My mom and I basically took it easy today. We went and got some Japanese, and it was yummy. We were actually looking for a Curves, but the one we found was closed. So we went to Wal-Mart and grabbed a few groceries. On the way back to the house I spotted a Curves. So I went in there and worked out once around the circuit instead of twice because I'm not supposed to get to hot or be near sun. Then we came home and unloaded the groceries and dipped in the pool here in the neighborhood. It was nice and relaxing, and I was covered so I didn't get any sun. The only thing with taking this medicine is it makes me hungry ALL the time. So I feel as if that's all I have done is eat. I wish I could get the TV here to work, and I can just there is no sound so there must be one button or something I'm not pushing right. I just finished watching the newer Parent Trap, and I still think I like the old one much better. I might watch both Sister Acts in bit. We fed the duck tonight, and we had to feed him worms...that my sister, and brother-in-law are raising. Well I think tonight is going to be a short post. Maybe one of these days I can get around to fixing yesterdays post. There is a sentence before the bridge picture that states this is where part of The Patriot was filmed, but it won't let me edit it or anything of that nature.

New Creation

Not really sure why this is underlined, but this is the bridge that "The Patriot" were filmed on..where he is battling for his two dogs.<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; We took a boat tour through the swamp, and then saw some Caiman Crocodiles...pronounced like my name, but only spelled differently, alligators, and some gorgeous butterflies. In this swamp two movies you may have seen were filmed here. They were "The Patriot," and "The Notebook." Gorgeous scenery all around, and I can't believe that this was all man made. It wasn't to hot, and quite enjoyable and relaxing to say the least. Thank you to my sister and brother-in-law for providing us tickets. We were going to take a carriage ride to the cemetery, but it was $10.00 per person so we decided to pass. I might blog later on this evening. I just wanted to get these pictures uploaded since they were on my phone, and I have never put pictures on here before. Is anyone actually still reading these blogs?

II Corinthians 5:17 (NIV Bible)

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! They called to let us know they made it there safely. My sister said that on one side of their condo they had beautiful mountains, and on the other side the Mediterranean Sea, but they need water just as bad as we do. They called to check in on their "children...the dog and duck." I have no clue what they are going to do when they have children. My sister left us an entire table full of notes for the few days we are here. We will be here until Tuesday sometime. It's been quite awhile since I have been to Charleston, but I just love the atmosphere. My mom and I headed to the market...I was actually looking for a South Carolina ring, but no such luck. I loved seeing all the ladies making the baskets, hearing the clip clops of the horses as they were taking people on carriage rides around the city, and just simply watching all the many different types of people that were down there. Then we headed to McAllister's Deli, and shared a baked potato. That was the first time I had actually ever eaten at one, and it was delicious. I got some lemonade to drink, and boy did that make me pucker, but it seems to be helping my jaw. After a good deal of trying to find the Tanger Outlets we finally succeeded. I mean you would think that would be a HUGE tourist trap, and have plenty of signs, but no we went on several different roads before actually finding it. I found a few good bargains, and then we stopped at the gas station to get the basics that we needed for tomorrow, and now we are home just chilling and relaxing.
My allergic reaction seems to be getting somewhat better...it's not as red, and not as bad itchy. So that's a good sign. I would take a picture, but deem that inappropriate. It's weird how my body knows when it's nighttime because I seem to only start itching then. Tomorrow I think my mom and I are going to Cypress Gardens to look at the "flutterbys" as I used to call them when I was little. We are going to try and go in the morning so hopefully it won't be to hot, and I can avoid the sun at all cost!

Jaw Update

For those of you that are wondering I went to the Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist this morning, and he said that I still have an infection in my jaw, but the medicine I'm taking for the allergic reaction should help it greatly. He also said I have something like the mumps, but not the mumps. Whatever that's supposed to mean. I'm to visit him again in another 6 weeks unless the swelling flares up again, and then I have to see him right away. It was kind of hard for him to tell because my face is read, and somewhat swollen. It looks like I got a HORRIBLE sunburn on it. I'm a little tired of visiting doctors this week. I have been to 3 different ones in less than 24 hours. The dermatologist said if I hadn't come in yesterday to see her then I would be in the hospital with this allergic reaction. That's how bad it is. The only bad thing about this medicine is it literally feels like I'm on fire. Yesterday it made my lips tingle and burn, and today it did the same thing to my chin and neck. So I guess we will see where it heads next. Prayers are still appreciated. It's weird. So I put an ice pack on it, and that certainly seemed to take care of the problem. Please pray that I get some sleep tonight. I haven't been able to sleep for the past two nights..so needless to say I'm running on energy, and it's NOT fun. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. Tomorrow my mom and I are heading to Charleston to dog and duck sit for my sister and brother-in-law who are spending a week in Spain for their honeymoon. They weren't really able to take one when they got married since they both teach school so this is well needed for both of them, and then on to the beach for the rest of the week. Should be an interesting time since I can't stay in the sun for very long.

Thank you http://mrdearybury.blogspot.com for helping me to come up with my Blog Name. Also to http://macaronincheeseagain.blogspot.com for helping me not be so blog illiterate. :) I appreciate both of you!

I will try and post through out the week while I'm on vacation as Internet will allow. Well I don't, but I certainly feel like I rolled around in a fire ant bed or someone put itching powder in my clothes. Wanted to keep you updated, and I might write more later just depends on how I'm feeling. Yesterday I woke up with some sort of rash on my stomach area. It got progressively worse as the day wore on, but went to the doctor this morning to find out I was allergic to one of the medicines I was taking. So I'm going to relax on the couch, and hopefully not scratch to much. Needless to say I didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night, and I thought I was supposed to be starting my vacation? The rash has now spread, and I just want to take a garden rake and scratch it. Please continue to remember me in prayer I still have an Ear, Nose and Throat appointment tomorrow at 9:10am to find out what's going on with my jaw. The medicine the doctor gave me prevents me from going out in the sun for very long...well vacation is at the beach. So we will see how all that works out. I'm just thanking Jesus and trying to stay positive. Things could be much worse.

On a lighter note one of my good friends Leah and her boyfriend are flying to Texas today. Leah is in a wedding, and so my mom and I took them to the airport at about 4:45 this morning. Also my roommate, Mollie, and her sister Katie are flying to China today to visit with her parents and sister. Please pray for all of their safety there and back.

Story Behind..."God of this City"

Jesusgreek: Their Story: Story Behind "God of this City"

God of This City-Chris Tomlin

You're the God of this city
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation
You Are

Bridge:
For there is no one like our God
There is no one like our God

Chorus 1:
Greater things have yet to come
Great things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things are still to come
And greater things are still to be done here

Verse 2:
You're the Lord of Creation
The Creator of all things
You're the King above all Kings
You Are

You're the strength in our weakness
You're the love to the broken
You're the joy in the sadness
You Are

Chorus 2:
Greater things have yet to come
Great things are still to be done
In this city
Where glory shines from hearts alive
With praise for you and love for you
In this city

Greater things have yet to come
Great things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things are still to come
And greater things are still to be done here

Ever get a song stuck in your head?? Well this one has been in mine a week now. Lyrics usually speak to me sometimes more than words. I just can't imagine or grasp the concept that greater things are yet to be done. How awesome is that? The incredible thing about that is I get to be a part of it..we all do if we are saved. Are you one of those that is looking for "greater things that are yet to come?" Hebrews 13:14 says..."For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come." Just read the words to that song again, and let them soak in. Please don't be one of those people who think that God is finished...know that He is the God of the City, King of these people, and Lord of this nation.

On a more lighter note..I'm heading home this afternoon, and taking some vacation time. So I'm not sure how often I will be able to post. Happy Wednesday :)

1st Blog

I'm going to try this again. I started last week blogging, but everytime I re-read it didn't care for the way it sounded, but today is a new day so we are trying again! Not really sure why I even feel the urge to blog these days. It's probably because I enjoy getting my feelings out on paper. Please say an extra prayer for my jaw. It's been hurting for right at a month now, and I still have a huge knot on the right side. Last week I ran a fever of 103 for about three days, and it was swollen like a golf ball. Which caused me not to be able to go to Curves. You don't realize what a difference something is making until you can't go anymore. Hopefully I will be back up and going this week. The Doctor says that I have a stone in my jaw...who even knew there was such a thing? Not me! I have been on two different types of antibotics, and I have to go see an ear, nose and throat specialist this coming Friday. Hopefully we can get to the root of this problem. It's weird because my teeth, throat, ear nothing hurts...just simply a knot.

Ok, enough about me. God has been truly amazing lately in what he is showing and teaching me. It's the little things that make such a big difference. He knows my needs, and when to send people to meet them. I had a pretty rough weekend just a lot on my mind, and worried about my jaw, but He NEVER fails...My roommate and I went out to eat with a Chinese lady that works in Traveler's Rest, and then we took her to her first American Baseball Game, Greenville Drive. I think she had fun even though she didn't really understand what was going on. It was just nice to see all the different types of people God created. Some short, fat, tall, skinny, black, white, chinese, and the list could continue.

I think this is enough for my first blog. Please read, and tell me what you think. I'm looking for ways to improve.
